One of historic Charleston’s most prominent iconic hotels, built in 1924 as the city’s business hub and premiere social venue, is celebrating its 90th birthday on February 7. Designed to reflect the prosperity of the vibrant and exciting 1920’s, the Francis Marion Hotel has continued in its founding tradition of superior service. In 90 years, the hotel has hosted thousands of events – glamorous balls, cocktail parties, corporate conferences, and wedding receptions. The dedicated hotel staff invites guests to share memories and celebrate with them in marking this historic event.

Hotel guests can share in the birthday celebration during February. A special 1920’s Hotel Package offers overnight accommodations, including dinner and cocktails for two—serving 1920’s specialties. Turn down service with a chocolate amenity is included for guests who participate.

The hotel’s restaurant, the Swamp Fox Restaurant & Bar, has created a classic 1920’s Dinner Menu for $19.24, highlighted with a $7.00 choice of a Velvet Club or Brown Derby Cocktail. A crisp Waldorf Salad and a cooked-to-perfection NY Strip with Crab Imperial and Asparagus Gratin, offer a satisfying nod to a time in our history when folks enjoyed the best of everything.

If you were lucky enough to be born in the year 1924 in the Charleston area, the Francis Marion wants to celebrate our shared history with a special celebratory offer just for you…the Swamp Fox Restaurant & Bar’s 1920’s dinner is free!

There will be a lobby drop-in party on Friday, February 7 between 5:00-7:00 PM for friends, neighbors, present and future guests and all folks wanting to enjoy champagne, birthday cake and jazz piano. Reminiscing is strongly encouraged!
